When Pauline started her “Glassy” journey never in her wildest dreams did she think that she would today be very busy teaching this age old skill, it all started with a small request from a neighbour to show her how to solder soon developed into something more.

Today Pauline hosts workshops in both stained and fused glass from her studio and also runs courses in the community for many different groups, her ‘kit’ workshops are popular in secondary schools, where students get to assemble a suncatcher already precut and prepared for copper foil and solder.

Stained Glass 1 day workshop

Workshop starts at 10am with a glass cutting demonstration also showing you all the different tools you’ll be using throughout the day. We’ll have a discussion about the various types of glass etc.

We then move on to learning how to cut glass and when everyone is comfortable to move on we’ll select a design, which is provided, if you’ve a design of your own in mind we can consider this instead.

We aim to finish up at 4pm taking home with you anything you make on the day.

Cost for day €110

Fused Glass 1 day workshop

Workshop starts at 11am, there isn’t much cutting involved in this workshop, it’s more about playing with glass shards, frit (crushed glass), stringers and noodles (long thin strips of glass like spaghetti) arranging them on a piece of pre-cut clear glass to create an abstract image or a pretty wild flower scene, once fired in the kiln these can then be either slumped over a mould to form a bowl or left flat and used as a wall hanging. As this process takes a day or so to complete it’s not possible to take home your piece on the day therefore it will be posted to you when it’s completed.

Cost for day €110

All prices include tea and coffee and of course all the tools and materials that you require on the day. Please bring a packed lunch.

A Deposit of €30 is required on all workshops and is non-refundable if cancelled within 2 weeks before workshop date.

These workshops are fun and relaxing and a real break away from life.

Please see the calendar for available dates.
